I believe every stay-at-home mom should be put in time out at least once a week.
You heard me. She needs time out - of the house.
Get the poor woman outta there! If you don’t, you’re taking a horrible risk. Maintain an unrelenting parenting stance and this wonderful, family-focused woman is sure to morph into a fire-breathing, maxed-out mom. And we can’t have that.
Granted, getting some of these dedicated ladies to take a even a short break can be challenging. "Oh, I just don’t think that would be right," they protest, as their world swirls around them. "My kids will think I don’t like them, and my husband will accuse me of goofing off."
On the contrary. Both your kids and your husband will benefit if you carve out some time for yourself. Time when you’re obligation-free. Time when you pamper yourself. After all, the whole family needs to be nurtured, and that includes you. It helps no one if you pour your entire being into taking care of everyone else, and leave yourself a hollowed-out mess.
We don’t expect our husbands to work at their jobs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In fact, wives usually resent spouses who do that. But if she’s not careful, an over-amped stay-at-home mom can easily find herself working around the clock, attempting to meet her family’s every imagined wish and need.
You can’t give if there is nothing to draw from. You are overdue for an emotional fill-up. But how do you go about soaking up some Mommy Time so you can get rejuvenated?
